Univ.Television Channel KUON-TV authorized to apply for funds for video tape recorder.

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, that approval be given to the request that University Television Channel KUON TV be permitted to make application to the National Educational Television and Radio Center for a videotape recorder grant. To comply with the requirements of the National Educational Television and Radio Center, approval is hereby given to the expenditure of not more than $10,000 for purchase of required technical equipment, together with additional funds to cover costs of equipment installation, changes in physical facilities, air conditioning and all other locally-incurred costs not covered by the stated terms of the Center grant but deemed necessary to the proper installation, maintenance, and operation of the videotape equipment.

Approve Agr.College personnel as members of Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Foundation,Inc.

It was moved by Regent Welsh, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried that the Associate Director of the Agricultural Extension Service and the State 4-H Club Leader of the Agricultural Extension Service be authorized to serve as members of the board of trustees of the Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Foundation, Inc. Provision for such membership on the board of trustees is set forth in Article VII in the Articles of Incorporation of Ak-Sar-Ben 4-H Foundation, Inc.

Change in allocation of Regents Scholarship Funds for upper classes

From the Committee on General Scholarship Awards come recommendations for modification in the plan for allocation of educational grant funds. In lieu of a fixed number of awards for each of the upperclasses, the Committee proposes to treat the Regents Scholarship Fund as a lump sum. Allocations will be made to qualified students on the basis of need. The maximum award to a student from general current funds of the University will be total tuition and fees. Needs beyond tuition and fees will be met through the use of University Foundation funds or University-administered funds other than general current funds.

It was moved by Regent Adkins, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, that the recommendations of the Committee on General Scholarship Awards be approved.

Approve outside employment of Dr.K. Warner Schaie, Dept. of Psychology

It was moved by Regent Elliott, seconded by Regent Welsh, motion put to vote and carried that approval be given to the request of Dr. K. Warner Schaie that he be permitted to serve as representative and consultant in the Lincoln area for the Institute of Personality and Ability Testing, Champaign, Illinois. This association has the recommendation of Dr. Marshall R. Jones, Acting Chairman of the Deppartment of Psychology and of Dean W. E. Militzer.

Accept grants

It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, that the following research grants, training grants, and fellowship grants, reported by Dean Harold E. Wise, Deputy Research Administrator, under date of July 21, 1959, be accepted.

Research Grants -- $18,919

$1500 from the Tennessee Corporation through the University of Nebraska Foundation for research by Professor Leon Chesnin of the Department of Agronony: Minor Element Deficiencies in Nebraska Soils and Their Influence on Crop Production. (Continuation).

$1000 from the S. E. Massengill Co. for research by Dr. Herbert L. Davis of the Department of Biochemistry and the Department of Surgery: Evaluation of Hemostatic Effects of Adrenosen.

$1000 from Ayerst Laboratories for research by Dr. Herbert L. Davis of the Department of Biochemistry and the Department of Surgery: Study of Hemostatic Action of Paremarin. (Continuation).

$5324 from the U. S. Public Health Service for research by Professor B. W. McCashland: Adaptation of Protozoa to Metabolic Inhibitors. (Continuation).
