The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska met on this day for a special meeting at 10:00 o'clock a. m. at the Administration Building, City Campus at Lincoln.

Regents present:

C. E. Swanson
J. G. Elliott

Regents absent:
J. L. Welsh

University officials present:
Messrs. Clifford M. Hardin, Chancellor
A. C.Breckenridge, Dean of Faculties
Joseph Soshnik, Comptroller
John K. Selleck, Corporation Secretary
Carl A. Donaldson, Business Manager

Minutes Approved

The minutes of the proceedings of the Board at their meeting held October 4, 1958, were approved, copy of the same having been transmitted to the several members of the Board under its order of October 1, 1926.

From the Chancellor's office come reports of resignations, new appointments, leaves of absence, adjustment in work and salary. Money being available for those purposes from former apportionment by the Board, the following actions are taken.

Consider resignation of Mrs. H. Carolyn Whitesel

In considering resignations of University personnel submitted for attention of the Board of Regents and in view of the special attention to be given to the resignation of Mrs. H. Carolyn Whitesel, Extension Assistant in Home Economics and County Home Extension Agent in Kearney County, it was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, directing that all resignations on the agenda be held for attention later in the meeting.

Leaves of Absence Approved

It was moved by Regent Elliott, seconded by Regent Swanson, motion put to vote and carried, that the following leaves of absence be approved as recommended by the Chancellor's office.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE

Colin J. Birtles, Assistant Professor of Architecture, leave of absence without pay for the academic year 1958-59.

Morris L Hemstrom, County Agricultural Extension Agent at Large, leave of absence without pay for the period October 1, 1958 to January 31, 1959, to complete masters degree.

Herbert Jehle, Professor of Physics, leave of absence without pay for the second semester 1958-59; to conduct some specialized research work in Washington, D. C. in association with the Physics Department of George Washington University.

New Appointments Approved

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, that the following new appointments be approved as recommended by the Chancellor's office.
