Low bids accepted

One 3750 kva Transformer from Westinghouse Electric Corporation in the amount of $34,610.00

Three 833 kva Transformers from Esco Manufacturing Company Company in the amount of $10,635.00

Transformer Cooling Equipment from Penns. Transformer Division, McGraw-Edison in the amount of $691.00

Accept picture from Harry R. Follmer

It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Greenberg, that the handsomely framed photostatic reproduction of the panel picture entitled "Heritage of Freedom" as presented by Mr. Harry R. Follmer of the Native Sons and Daughters of Nebraska be accepted and the secretary of the Board be directed to write a letter of appreciation to the author Harry R. Follmer of Oak, Nebraska, thanking Mr. Follmer in behalf of the Board of Regents. Motion put to vote and carried.

From the Dean of The College of Medicine, Dr. J. P. Tollman, comes a proposed Resolution wherein the staff of the University of Nebraska College of Medicine will provide general medical and surgical service to Douglas County Hospital, supplementing the teaching facilities at the College of Medicine Hospital.

Resolution re service to Douglas County Hospital by College of Medicine

It was moved by Regent Welsh, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, directing the following Resolution be approved:

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, heretofore the University of Nebraska College of Medicine has been furnishing emergency medical service six months out of each year for the treatment and care of emergency cases at Douglas County Hospital in Omaha, and

WHEREAS, a new arrangement has been developed and has been operating on an experimental basis since July 1, 1958, whereby the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and Creighton University College of Medicine provide general medical and surgical service at said Douglas County Hospital, the details of said plan being administered by a Deans' Committee consisting of the Dean of each of said schools and certain assistants, and

WHEREAS, such plan provides additional facilities for medical education and training and also provides for the payment of $8,500.00 per year to the University of Nebraska College of Medicine to pay the cost of internes and residents, and

WHEREAS, this Board has before it a copy of a resolution adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Douglas County in which the general features of such plan are set forth, and it appears to this Board that such new arrangement will be beneficial to the University of Nebraska College of Medicine,

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska does hereby approve in principle the plan whereby the University of Nebraska College of Medicine will provide general medical and surgical service at Douglas County Hospital, and the Board does hereby authorize the Dean of the College of Medicine to enter into such arrangements and agreements on behalf of the University as may be necessary to continue such plan in effect.

There being no further business the Board adjourned.
