13th/87 conerning an appropriation
for the botanical division of the
Agricultre Dept, to make further
investigation in the matter of graces,
was received. I regard this as
very important for the [west?] and will
gladly do what I can to have
as liberal an appropriation granted
as posible , but I am not on the
"Appropriations" Comittee, of which
Senator Allien of Lorra is chairman,
