Washington, D. C., August 25, 1886.

Mr. Chas. E. Bessey.
Lincoln, Neb.
Dear Sir:–

Your valuable reply
to our schedule on the English Sparrow is just
received. Please accept our thanks for the
same. We are especially intersted in tracing
the spread of the Sparrow west of the Mississippi,
and as we have had few replies from
Nebraska your information is very welcome.

We shall look forward with interest to
your account of the species another year,
and in the meantime should be glad of
any additional information you may chance
to gain.

Respectfully,
Walter B. Barrows
Acting Orithologist.
