Charge of Murder- McFar-
land Asks Attorneys.
Before Judge Hall
At nine o'clock this morning Mrs.
Mary Sheedy and her alleged accem-
pllce, the negro Monday McFarland.
were arraigued before Judge Hall in the
district court charged with the murder
of John Sheedy.
Each was prompt in answering not
guilty to the canrge and they were re-
manded to jail to await trail on May 4.
Mrs. Sheedy was attired in the cus-
tomary black and beyond a nodcable
paleness did not display any showing of
ill health recently howled about, but
was firm and composed, showing no
agitation.
McFarland was also in the test of
health and spirits and did not show any
degree of uneasiness. He filed with the
court an (word?) setting forth that he
was unable to empoly attorneys and
asked that the court appoint counsel for
his defeuse. It is more than probable
that Messrs. Billingsl and Phillpot.
who have heretofore been retained by
McFarland, will be appointed to con-
tinue in his behalf.
