2 | 2PURDUE UNIVERSITY LAFAYETTE, IND. August 1st, 1891. Prof. C. E. Bessy, Lincoln, Nebraska, I take it for grant that you will be at the Washington meeting. What do you think of the idea of exhibiting some pieces of physiological apparatus? Would it not add something to the interest of the papers which are to be read on physiology, and give some who have never seen such work done a better idea of the appliances which are used in such researches? My own notion regarding the matter would be, that any kind of apparatus used in physiological botany, both imported and home made pieces, would be interesting. Can you not display some of the pieces from your laboratory which has been described from time the Gazette and Naturalist. I have no doubt you also have foreign made pieces which would be interesting, Conway MacMillan, has agreed to bring a Gas Analizer, should he attend. I have written to the others persons, Please let me know early what you think of the matter, becuase if only a few are willing to take the trouble, it would be best to abandon the attempt.
