Dear Sir,

The Rev. Mr. Licle of Gordon informed me that you are willing to identify plants for those who are studying them. I am a missionary of the Episcopal Church in this place & vicinity, & am very much interested in Botany, but have never gone into the details. I am now for the first time trying to identify & collect the [praeses] & plants of this region, and shall be grateful for your assistance. They have offered at Washington to do anything for me.
