Dear Prof. Bessey:

Yours of Nov. 14 is at hand, and your sketch of case desired is almost a copy of one which I sent to Halsted yesterday, and is just what we want. In many lines it will be impossible to show all the material in the wall case, and so I think it will be well to have the space under the table part of the case arranged for storing herbarium sheets, which can be used when wanted. Our idea is, to have the cases as uniform as is possible, but of course variations can be made when necessary. For the cases containing parasitic fungi it may be better to have the table case in front only a foot, but we will see about that later, when we know more definitely what material we shall have. The cases will all be made by the Dept. of Agriculture, and at the expense of the Dept. It is the idea of Sec'y Willits that each Station will bear the expenses of preparing its own part of the exhibit, and that it will be shipped to and from Chicago at the expense of the Department. The cost to each Station will be only the cost of preparing the material, and whatever is sent will remain the property of the Station sending it. In special cases,
