Refund In Absentia Fee to Derryl D. Ogden

From Derryl D. Ogden comes a request for a refund of the In Absentia fee paid by Mr. Ogden because of non-attendance at the Commencement program on June 7, 1958. Mr Ogden is requesting this refund because of the fact that he is a Seventh Day Adventist and in that Commencement was held on a Saturday, he desires to be excused.

It was moved by Regent Elliottt, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, directing that the $10.00 In Absentia fee paid by Mr. Derryl D. Ogden because of non-attendance at the June 7 Commencement be refunded.

Easement granted to San. Dist.No. 1 - Ag.College

From the Business Manager, Mr. Carl A. Donaldson, comes an Easement granting to the Sanitary District No. 1 of Lancaster County, Nebraska, a perpetual right-of-way over and across a tract of land owned by the University of Nebraska directly north of the College of Agriculture main campus between 36th Street and 48th Street. This Easement is required in connection with the proposed relocation of Dead Man's Run in this area.

It was moved by Regent Swanson, seconded by Regent Welsh, motion put to vote and carrried, directing the president and corporation secretary of the Board of Regents shall be authorized to sign in behalf of the Board an Easement to Sanitary District No. 1 of Lancaster County, Nebraska, covering a proposed right-of-way for Dead Man's Run on the north edge of the College of Agriculture campus.

Schaumberg & Freeman authorized to prepare plans for remodeling of Elgin Plant

From the Business Manager, Mr. Carl A. Donaldson, comes a recommendation that the architectural firm of Schaumberg & Freeman, of Lincoln, be employed for services rquired in connection with the remodeling, reconditioning and refurbishing of the Elgin plant as recently purchased by the University for general university classroom and laboratory uses. It is proposed that this contract be made on a preliminary basis for the primary studies and first units of construction at a fee to the architect of 4 1/2% for completed plans and specifications and 1 1/2% for inspection during construction.

It was moved by Regent Swanson, seconded by Regent Welsh, motion put to vote and carried, directing the architectural firm of Schaumberg & Freeman, of Lincoln, Nebraska, be employed to prepare plans and specifications for the remodeling of the Elgin plant for use by the University of Nebraska for classrooms and laboratory purposes.

Assign copyright to Dr. Ruth M. Leverton

From Dr. Ruth M. Leverton comes a request to assign to her the copyright for the book which she authored "Food Becomes You." This book was printed under a contract with the author by the University Press. The book is now out of print and the University Press does not desire to reprint.

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, directing assignment of copyright for the book "Food Becomes You" to Dr. Ruth M. Leverton, author.

Waive nepotism rule

It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Welsh, that the nepotism rule be waived in the case of John and Wayne Burbank, brothers, who are serving as county agents in Antelope and Merrick Counties, respectively.

Renew agreement with State Aeronautics Dept. for serial research

It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, directing the president and corporation secretary of the Board of Regents shall be authorized to sign in behalf of the Board, a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Aeronautics, State of Nebraska, wherein the Department of Aeronautics furnishes the sum of $12,000.00 for the purpose of continuing a research grant to the University to be used in the investigation of the use of airplanes in agriculture to apply fertilizer and seed and the application of agricultural chemicals to control weeds, insects and plant diseases.
