I don't believe there is another star in America that could have done as well. considering it was the worst week in the year, the Exposition having just closed, and a tremendous election excitement following. Notwithstanding all this you have played to overwhelming large houses, and yesterday you played to the largest number of people ever inside of this building in one day, the receipts of the two performances being $ 1, 375. Wishing you the continued success you so richly deserve, I hope to have the pleasure of playing you again at this theatre at whatever date you many appoint. In conclusion, outside of our business relations, permit me to say that I have ever found you an honorable gentleman as well as an artist, and what I consider the best drawing card on the American stage.
