Buffalo Bill Cancels his Engagement
for Atlanta.

When Buffalo Bill and his troupe reached
Wilmington, N.C., there was a sort of commotion
among them. The dashing Bill announced
that he would play in Atlanta
during fair week and, of course, anticipated
a big harvest of silver. His troupe were
affected by the fool notion that the yellow
fever was spread all over Georgia, and they
flatly refused to come any further south.
Bill argued, stormed, persuaded and threatened
in vain, the scared actors would
not stir from their resolution. He
was, therefore, compelled to cancel
his engagement for three nights here during
fair week and with his timid troupe set his
face toward the north again. We hope by
this cancellation to have a better troupe in
our opera house at a time when everybody
will want amusement there. It is probable
that some enterprising manager will see the
opportunity now open for a fine stroke, and
will put a good troupe on our stage during
the fair. We must have something. In the
event of the absence of professional talent
the comedy club must fix up something new,
or the amateur minstrels, for the honor of
the city must black their handsome faces
and cut their cute antics in public on the
stage. Where is the enterprising management
of the Y. M. L. A.?
