Dear Prof. Bessey,

I feel like a thief when I remember that I have never written to you since your kindness to me at Lincoln in June. I have been horribly busy ever since, and you are by no means the only person who has suffered -- if it be suffering.

I sent you the other day a copy of our new catalogue. You will see that things are still rather primitive here, but also, I hope, that they promise to be better. Our new building -- ultimately to cost $200,000 -- will be begun next year, and that will help us greatly for we are terribly crowded. As it is, I think of getting the Regents to put up a tem-
