Drs. Livingstone & Mencer Elected to Chair of Surgery &c.

Regent Holmes moved that Dr. R. R. Livingstone of Plattsmouth, Neb. be elected to fill the chair of principles & practice of surgery and that Dr. S. D. Mencer of Omaha be elected to fill the chair of clinical surgery in the medical college of this university, each without compensation from the state except the payment of actual expenses incurred in the discharge of their duties, which motion prevailed.

Mansfelde's Appliction Indefinitelu Postponed.

Regent Holmes moved that the application of Dr. A. S. V. Mansfelde for election to the chair of pathology & histiology in the medical college of this university be indefinitely postponed, which motion also prevailed.

Resignation of Prof. Grube

The secretary read the following:
Lincoln, Neb. Aug. 22nd, 1884.
To the board of regents, University of Nebraska, gentlemen:
I beg you to accept my resignation of the post which I have held for several year in the University of Nebraska as Professor of Modern Languags, to take effect on the 1st day of January 1885, and oblige respectfully, yours faithfully,
F. W. Grube.

Accepted.

Care of J. S. Dales Sec.
On motion the resignation of Prof. Grube was received and accepted on the terms named therein.

Leave of Absence to Prof. Grube.

The following resolution was the adopted:
Resolved that Prof. F. W. Grube of the chair of Modern Language be granted a leave of absence until January 1st 1885.

Detail of Dudley Asked for Dec. 1st. 1884

Regent Holmes moved, that the former request by this board to the war department (dec.1883) for the detail of an army officer to take charge of the military department in this university, be renewed to the war department, and that Lieut. E. S. Dudley be named as the choice of the board for such detail, the same to take effect December 1st 1884, which motion also prevailed.

Latin School Tutor &c. to be Employed by Chancellor

Regent Holmes moved that the chancellor be authorize to employ the necessary assistance in the Latin school, at salaries no to exceed $1,000. per annum, which motion also prevailed.
