Mrs. Sheedy. )
TO the Hon. A. W. Field, judge of the said court.
We the undersigned attorneys of the bar of Lancaster County, at
the request of Messers. Billingsley and Philpott, and disavowing any
intent on our part to dictate, or interfere with the duty imposed on
you to fix the amount to be allowed by you to them for their services
in said case, and knowing that the statutes leave the matter to your
discretion in cases of homicide, do at their request state to you that
we think their services are worth, as rendered in said case, the sum
set opposite our respective names.
The said attorneys after being appointed for McFarlands defense
beside attending court to hear and argue motions, demurres &c, tried
the case for twenty three days including the day the verdict was
rendered. The case was one of more than ordinary importance.
O. P. Mason $2,000.00
L. C. Burr 2,000.00
F M Hall 1500.00
Walter J. Lamb $25. each per day In
my opinion would be a very moderate
allowance.
$25 A day is about right T. M. Marquett
$25 A day is little enough H. C. Abbott
$25. per day Each is I think reasonable E. E. Brown
