Mrs. Peattie and Mrs. Kincaid Are
Prominent in Federation.
Los Angeles, Cal May 3--Four hundred
delegates, the largest number in attendance
from any club, have come to
Los Angeles to represent the Sunshine
society of which Mrs. Cynthia Westover
Alden of New York is the founder and
president, and which has over one hundred
thousand members and two thousand
branches Mrs Anna Moore of
Myrtle, Neb. is state president.
At the meeting of the Nebraska delegation
this evening resolutions of respect
for Mrs. Louise L Rickett former state
secretary, were read by Mrs Langworth
of Seward, and passed They will be
placed on file and a copy sent to the
family.
The delegation discussed the subject of
reincorporation which will come before
the convention Monday for final settlement.
All delegates were advised to
inform themselves as to the contents of
the articles of incorporation.
Mrs. Draper Smith, president of the
Nebraska state federation also read a
proposition to be discussed later for the
general federation to erect a memorial of
the Louisiana Purchase Toward which if
erected, Nebraska will contribute her
proportion.
The most enthusiastic session since the
opening of the biennial was that of the
press division today with Mrs. Elia W.
Peattie chairman. After her report Mrs.
Peattie introduced various speakers
among whom was Mrs. Mary Holland
Kincaid, who delivered a very clever
speech on some humorous aspects of
newspaper life. In introducing Mrs.
Kincaid, Mrs Peattie said Denver Omaha,
Chicago and Milwaukee claim Mrs. Kincaid
to be the only all-around newspaper
woman in that section capable of creditably
filling the office of reporter, compositor,
editor, etc.
