University of Nebraska
Lincoln Nebr. Dec. 29 1884

My dear Dr. Vasey.

As you are aware I have changed
my place of work, I find the herbarium here very small
and especially poor in plants from other parts of the country.
Now I remember what you did for the College at
Ames, and I am wondering whether I can not induce
you to consent to do as well by this University in
the way of specimens. I not only [?] ordinary
herbarium specimens, but those of economic interest.

You will, I know, p[?] me if I am asking
or suggesting too much. I built up a good
collection at Ames, and I want to do so here,
and so shall make all note of preposterous demands
upon my botanical freinds everywhere. Of course I
have brought my own private collections with me
so that I can go on with my work, but I
want to [?] the work of making a good working
collection for the University.

Very Truly
Charles E. Bessey
