ome and in all the densely Republican regions of the state, as a firm Prohibitionist, bethought him that it would be well to hear from the general's own mouth what his real sentiments upon Prohibition were and asked somewhat abruptly: "General, what is your position upon the Prohibition of the manufacture and sale of liquor?" The General's face showed that he was taken by surprise; he was visibly confused. But he had come here to work among the Germans, who are notriously not Prohibitionists; he knew how if he consulted his own political interests, he ought to answer any question relating to Prohibition, in a community where Prohibition is decidedly the under dog in the political fight. And very evidently against his belief and inclination he replied somewhat broken, I think that the best way to regulate the liquor traffic is by the high license system." "You do not, then," contined THE BULLETIN man "believe in Prohibition in a strict [sense?] of the word by legilative or constitutional enactment ?" "I think," said the General in substance, "that Prohibition is impracticable and could not be enforced. As stated, the general is known in central and northern portions of the state, in fact, by the great majority of the Republican party, as a firm believer in Prohibition; but the above answers would indicate that he does not believe in Prohibition. Thus there appears a conflict between the general's Prohibition professions in Prohibition communities and his Prohibition professions in anti-Prohibition communities. The general's duplicity in this matter is in strict accord with the conduct of the leaders of his party in all parts of the state. His Prohibition principles depend entirely upon the circumstances immediately surrounding him. But he is a good fellow nevertheless, and we hope that he may be defeated by a much smaller majority than his wooden legged fellow candidate on the Republican ticket.

Oct. 10th, 1882.

-Buffalo Bill (Hon. Wm. F. Cody) tomorrow (Monday) will appear at the Opera House with a band of genuine Indian chiefs, in his new play written for Mr. Cody by the popular comedian, Charles Foster, and entitled Twenty Days, or Buffalo Bill's Pledge. The new play is gotten up on a different plan from that of his former representations, having less red-fire and rifle flash in it. The appended story of the play, however, will show how vividly interesting and exciting is the production. A brother of a well-to-do rancher dies in England, leaving an immense fortune in his will to his brother's child who has settled on the plains, on condition that she weds his adopted son, Capt. Mortlake, within one month of their first meeting. To way lay and kill the expectant bridegroom and appear in his place to fulfill the conditions of the will is the scheme of Montana Mike, a gambler, and a deadly enemy of Buffalo Bill, whom he thought he had killed some years before, but only maimed him, and who now appeared in disguise; as crippled Jim. Montana Mike is aided by a desperado called Lariat Dan. To unearth this mystery of the two captains, trace out the fraud, avenge a cruel murder, and save the rightful heir from assassination is the task for Buffalo Bill to accomplish in twenty days.

OPERA HOUSE-BUFFALO BILL TO-NIGHT.

The noted scont and guide, Buffalo Bill, will appear at the opera house to-night, in his new play, entitled "20 Days, or Buffalo Bill's Pledge." This is pronounced his very best play, and as he carries a large company, consisting of twenty-five artists, he never fails to present it in the best manner. Many people who have never seen him, think that Buffalo Bill is a "ranter" and "scene chewer," but if they will go to the opera house this evening, they will discover their mistake, for he is one of the most natural actors upon the boards, appearing simply in the character he has all his life personated in every day life while out upon the frontier. He is a polished gentleman in his intercourse with the public, and is an agreeable surprise to all who make his acquaintance. He never fails to draw large audiences, because he invariably gives a good show. His rifle shooting is alone worth the admission fee. By all means go to the opera house to night if you want to be amused.

Hon. Wm. F. Cody (Buffalo Bill), was tendered a large, warm and appreciative reception last night. This, however, is always the case with him here, and last night nor any other night did, or will this prove an exception. That his new play of Twenty Days, is a much better creation than any he has ever before appeared in at our opera house, and supported by a better company, is a fact not to be denied. He could fill the house again to-night if it was his intention to stay. He may rest assured, however, that his return will be warmly welcomed.
