January 19, 1876-- The Wild West in the person of Buffalo Bill (William J.) cody and company came to Peoria for a one-night stand at Rouse's Hall in the melodrama "Life on the Border." Texas Jack (J B Omohundro) played opposite the noted scout and buffalo hunter. The audience burned and chilled at perils that beset the brave frontiersman Old Sloat (Texas Jack) and they cheered madly when he was yanked from under the scalping knife just in time by Cap. Huntley (Buffalo Bill). Jedediah Broadbrim, the peace-loving Quaker who packed a mighty wallop in hid fist, funished the comedy and Emma Reynolds, bethrotherd of Buffalo Bill, the romance.
