The Scouts of the Plains. On the 20th and 21st insts., next Wednesday and Thursday, we are to have the "Scouts of the Plains." The company embraces "Buffalo Bill," (Hon. W. F. Cody) "Texas Jack," and many other celebrities, including the great Morlacchi. The Troy Whig, in speaking of this troupe says:

"The Opera House contained the largest audience of the season last night, on the occasion of the return of Buffalo Bill, Texas Jack, M'lle Morlacchi and Company, who appeared in the new drama of Life on the Plains. Buffalo Bill and Texas Jack are well known here, since their advent last winter, and it is sufficient to say that they still retain their great popularity, and that experience in stage business and the actor's role has greatly improved their mimic representations. M'lle Morlacchi both astonished and pleased her audience by the versatility of impersonations as well as by her wonderful dancing and singing. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Fletcher also distinguished themselves. The piece in which the scouts were introduced is an entirely new one, it contains many points of interest, and in continuity o' plot and sensational tableaux is the best we ever saw of its class."

THE SCOUTS OF THE PLAINS----The dramatic troupe which is to appear at the Academy of Music on Wednesday and Thursday next, is thus spoken of by the Harford, Conn, Times:

"The first entertainment of the Buffalo Bill party, the Opera House, last evening. drew forth one of the largest houses we have ever seen there. The play was an immense improvement on the one they gave here last year, and the performance much better. Buffalo Bill, as handsome as ever, has become used to the stage and now apparently as much at home there as on his native plains. Texas Jack has also improved in style, action and voice, Mr. Frank Mordanunt sustained the disagreeable part of Jim Dawes very well. Mr. Walter Fletcher acted well and pleased the audience as Nick Bluder, and received three encores for his song and dance. M'lle Morlacchi acted, danced and sang gracefully, and other ladies of the company----Misses Fisher, Hodson and Safford--- did exceedingly well. In fact, it was as good as entertainment of the kind as we have had given at the Opera House, and no doubt another crowded house will greet the company to-night.

The Scouts of the Plains.

Ned Buntline, he of the blood and thunder business in the New York Weekly, brought around a troupe here last year, that was calculated to deceive, and to this fact may be attributed the comparatively light house which greeted the really meritorious company new in the city, for a two nights engagement, known as the "Scouts of the Plains." No one who went to the Academy of Music last evening expected to listen to the elocutionary powers of a Booth or a Forrest; the plot of the play does not require it. We desire to place ourselves on the record in this way, regarding this show. It is a good one. Nearly every character in the company is well sustained. The entertainment opened with a farce, entitled "Thrice Married," in which the versatile powers of M'lle Morlacchi- who is no stranger here, and who we esteem as a first classe artist- were fully brought out, and thoroughly appreciated. No danseuse since the tunes of Fanny Ellsler has so completely captivated the public heart as Morlacchi, the wife of Texas Jack, who cuts no inconsiderable figure in the drama which followed, and in which he, and "Buffalo Bill," (Hon. W. F. Cody of Nebraska) are the heroes of some startling fights on the plains, during which many Indians are made to bite the dust. M'lle Morlacchi also appears in this piece, performing her part in her usual piquant style. She is simply immense in her style of acting. We bespeak for the company a crowded house for tonight, their last appearance in this city.
