Dear Prof. Bessey:

I should as an old
acquaintance & one who has been aided by you
much in my editorial work inform
you that after the issue of the Dec. No. of
the Naturalist I shall have no farther
connection with it. I cannot work
harmoniously with Mr. Cope. He will
not take advice from me & has
treated me so shabbily that my self-respect
has prompted me to resign. I have [?]
[?] him for making the magazine his
personal [?]. He has also [?] [not?]
a review & editorial I prepared. In short
I have entirely for the last year or two lost
