Agricultural College,
Ames, Iowa.
Department of Botany.
March [1?] 1886.
My dear Dr. Bessey,
I have not had a
moment of time or a place to
answer your kind note of 13th Feb.
until now and now I am in
the little back "study" with no fire
and the [?] season for mid winter.
So soon as I get thawed out I will
try the continuity of protoplasm. At
present it has not continuity in my
chilled brain! I will look
after the symbiosis matter later.
Much obliged for the suggestion.
Yours in haste but
sincerely
Byron D. Halsted
