of the [furtive?] mosquito. They are
out there waiting for me and
even looking through the netting
whic is in the windows & doors.
You are an entomologist. You are
[?] [?] [large?] & [?] [?] creeping
things and could tech me more
about any of them than ever I
dreamed ofBut not so only
the mosquito. I can give you
[?] on that [?]. I will
even assert that practically
speaking you dont know any
thing about [?], any way not
as he is here! I well remember
the things we called mosquitoes in
Ohio. They were rather [?] and
[indulging us?] [singing?] [?], and
biting [incidentally?]. But here they
are first last & always for [bite?]
and "as the sands of the sea [for?]
multitude," and as there [possibly?] is
like [?] nothing under [?] or
in the earth to consider it well
enough to sit right here in the

house and enjoy the splendid
weather we are loo[k?]ing through
the [subdued?] light of mosquito
netting.

Willis is at home in [Oberlin?]
now and I am here where I am
in hopes you may see [?] [?]
before he comes back. I suppose
he is enjoying himself there as he
richly deserves after having been so
long without even some getting away.
For while life here has its charms
it has also very serious drawbacks
and the continued warm weather
does finally sap one of his energy
and vitality.

The [?] apple season is [?]
[?] us it has never been a
success so that we are going to
try to get [out?] of it – sell out
perhaps – and gein all over
again. The past six or seven
years have [dead here?] – we
shall be about where we begun
