makes every body feel good.
We enjoy our home on the
hill very much now that
we have got settled. The
Board, however, has not
treated you generously in
the matter; when there was
a surplus of $300. Of my
appropriation, they took it
and applied it [?]
leaving you but $25 for
repairs. I have reason
to think they were in the
[?] every that they had
awarded [?] the house.
Somehow I am doomed
to be suspected and neglected
by the B. in our
college, tho' I believe there
is no one more [disinterestedly?]
devoted to its welfare
than I am. Rubble!
bubble! toil, and trouble!
Please extend my kind
congratulations to Prof
Sherman for his able
treatment of the interesting
topic he had in discussion.
My wife was suddenly
called home to see his
father die, – an aged man
86 yrs old – she writes you
that he has so far recovered
as to allow her
to return. She has been
absent 3 weeks, and is
anxious to get [?] and
we are anxious to have
her back. Glad to know
of your success. Your
successor is a [very?]
genial man, very much
esteemed for his gentlemanly
traits. How he will
do in the class-room remains
to be seen. His
predecessor was a hard
man to succeed – that
is an awkward setnence
– otherwise the efficiency
of the predecessor of this
man in the art of teaching
