My Dear Sir

The earlier [mess.?] I just rec'd
from our Canton House Brokers speaks
for itself.

When I wrote you on the 7th in[s]t
[?] blank oaths, I distinctly stated
that the same should be [?] to by
your Chancellor or other head officers
& when they came back with your
name attached I felt certain, they
would not go through, but nevertheless
concluded to try them. The result is
as I feared, & I am compelled
to [?] [?] blanks, whcih your
rec'd m[?] [?] I [?] to, attach
the University Seal & write at once.
