it seems to me that it is the
best I have ever seen for the general
reader—& it must be [equally?]
[allotted?] to the wants of students in
schools & colleges. Most authors
make "dry bones" of this [noble study?]
but you have the rare facility of
putting life, motion, spirit into
whatever you write. I have no doubt
the volume will win its way to very
wide [appreciation?] & fully meet your
hopes
I am [?] to you for your
kind invitation. I intend to avail
myself of the opportunity to visit
the College before you close this
fall. I cannot now indicate
what time I can be there but
probably about the last days of
this term. When I decide I will
let you know. Prof. Budd also [?]
[me?] an invitation.
A couple of our [mortuill?] & public
[?] zoning men—a banker & a
farmer are anxious to visit the
College when I do, & I think they may
like to come to see the closing [exams?].
In a few days we shall have a
direct route into Ames by rail
