Accept final payment from Carnegie Corporation for Community Education program

It was moved by Regent Elliott, seconded by Regent Adkins, motion put to vote and carried, that final payment in the amount of $5,000 be accepted from the Carnegie Corporation of New York in support of the Community Education program under the direction of Dr. Dale Hayes. This is the final payment under the grant of $79,200 made by the Carnegie Corporation in 1957.

Authorize U of N Press to publish From Realism to Reality in Recent American Painting by Virgil Barker

It was moved by Regent Adkins, seconded by Regent Elliott, motion put to vote and carried, that the president and assistant corporation secretary be authorized and directed to execute a Memorandum of Agreement with Virgil Barker in connection with publication by the University of Nebraska Press of From Realism to Reality in Recent American Painting.

Advisory Committee for Advanced Professional Degrees in Teachers College appointed

From Dean Walter K. Beggs, Teachers College, comes a recommendation for the following new appointments to the Advisory Committee for Advanced Professional Degrees in Teachers College. All appointments are to be effective from September 1, 1959:

Dr. Royce H. Knapp -- one year
Dr. Merle Stoneman -- one year
Dr. Doris O'Donnell -- two years
Dr. Milton Ploghoft -- two years
Dr. Carlos Wear -- two years
Dr. James Rutledge -- three years
Dr. Robert Stake -- three years
Dr. Walter K. Beggs -- Co-chairman
Dr. Wesley C. Meierhenry -- Co-chairman
Dr. Floyd Hoover -- Ex-officio member

It was moved by Regent Elliott, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, that the above appointments be approved.

Authorize Research and Marketing Act contract, USDA, for study at College of Agriculture

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Elliott, motion put to vote and carried, that the president and assistant corporation secretary be authorized and directed to execute a Research and Marketing Act Contract with the U. S. Department of Agriculture. This contract provides for payments to the University of Nebraska in the amount of $23,014 in support of "A Study to determine the effect of the amount of Dietary Protein on the Metabolic Response of a Group of Adult Men to an assortment of Fats."

Authorize chancellor to apply for grant to relocate Former Admin. Bldg, and construct new building on its site near art gallery

It was moved by Regent Adkins, seconded by Regent Elliott, motion put to vote and carried, that the Chancellor be authorized to make application to an anonymous private source for a $250,000 grant to provide replacement space for the former Administration Building. This grant would make it possible to remove the former administration building and to construct a new building adjacent to the new art museum which could be used for housing the Department of Art, be harmonious in design with the new art museum, and make possible a proper setting for both buildings.

Approve request for Agr. Exp. Station to use land at Ordnance Plant at Mead, Nebr.

It was moved by Regent Adkins, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, that University administrative personnel be authorized to make appropriate requests for transfer to the University of certain land and buildings of the Ordnance Plant at Mead, Nebraska, no longer needed by the U. S. Government. This land would be used to meet some of the needs of the Agricultural Experiment Station.

There being no further business, the Board adjourned.
