Leaves of Absence Approved

It was moved by Regent Elliott, seconded by Regent Swanson, motion put to vote and carried, that the following leaves of absence be approved as recommended by the Chancellor's office.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE

Marc A. Hairstone, Research Associate in Pedodontics, leave of absence without salary from September 30, 1958 to September 30, 1959.

Mrs. Leona Shahani, Psychometrist in Junior Division and Counseling Service, leave of absence without salary from November 24, 1958 to February 23, 1959.

Ernest Feder, Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics, extension of leave without salary from December 1, 1958 to January 15, 1959; currently on Fulbright grant in Chile.

Leo Barnell, County Agricultural Extension Agent in Dundy County, leave of absence without salary from January 5, 1959 to January 4, 1960.

Dorothy Larery, Assistant Professor of Home Economics, leave of absence without salary for the second semester of 1958-59.

E. Richard Nightingale, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, leave of absence with pay during the second semester of 1958-59; to carry on research work. Salary to be paid from University Research Council funds.

Francis A. Haskins, Professor of Agronomy, leave of absence from July 1 to August 31, 1959, with salary; to work with Dr. Herschel K. Mitchell in the Biology Division of California Institute of Technology.

New Appointments Approved

It was moved by Regent Welsh, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, that the following new appointments be approved as recommended by the Chancellor's office.

NEW APPOINTMENTS

College of Agriculture
Bert Evans, Instructor and Assistant in Agricultural Economics, at $450 per month for the period November 26, 1958 to June 30, 1959; to teach Ag. Econ. 1, and conduct research under 4775W.

College of Arts and Sciences
Desmond Michael S. Wheeler, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, at $2850 for the second semester of 1958-59; temporary replacement for E. R. Nightingale who will be on leave.

College of Engineering and Architecture
Luh Cheng Tao, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering, at $7500 per year effective February 1, 1959; in place of H. T. Bates.

Graduate College
Leota G. Norton, Assistant Field Work Instructor, School of Social Work, for the period September 1, 1958 to June 1959, without salary.

Junior Division and Counseling Service
Oliva P. Carino, Psychometrist with rank of Instructor, temporary appointment at $3000 per year from November 24, 1958 to February 23, 1959; in place of Mrs. Leona Shahani on leave.
