FIXING CONVENTIONS.

The Republican City Central Committee Meets.

The Primaries to be Held on Thursday, March 19th, the Convention on the 21st.

The Wards' Allotment.

For the purpose of fixing the time for holding the primaries and convention and to make the apportionment of delegates to the convention from each ward, the republican city central committee met last evening at the office of Chairman Talbot, in the Burr block, and besides a party of enthusiastic workers, the following committeemen were present: C. E. Alexander, First ward; L. W. Billingsley, Second ward; H. H. Dean, Third ward; Phelps Paine, Fourth ward, C. W. Hoxie, Fifth ward; S. J. Alexander, Sixth ward, and S. D. Woodley, Seventh ward.

Mr. S. J. Alexander called attention to the fact that the law for the adoption of the Australian ballot system had been passed with an emergency clause and therefore it would be necessary to hold the convention at least fifteen days before the time for the election.

Capt. L. W. Billingsley then moved that the primaries be held on Thursday, March 19th and the convention on Saturday afternoon, March 21, to meet at 2 o'clock at a place to be secured later on. The committee sustained the motion.

In the matter of the apportionment of delegates from each ward the committee decided, after a thorough consideration, to make the vote cast for Treasurer Hill at last fall's election the basis of representation, each ward to have a delegate for every twenty-five votes cast, or fraction thereof. This would give a total of 151 delegates, apportioned from each ward as follows:

First ward.........................18
Second ward.....................14
Third ward........................26
Fourth ward......................32
Fifth ward.........................32
Sixth ward.........................16
Seventh ward....................13

Total...............................151
