London, May 9. -The American Exhibition was formally opened to-day. The weather was clear. About 7000 persons attended. the bursting of a boiler during the morning prevented the staring of machinery, but otherwise the opening ceremonies were carried out according to programme. the [word?] band played American and British national airs. Arch-deacon Farrar offered prayer, Lord Ronald Grower delivered the address of the welcome and Lillian Nordyee sang the "Star Spangled Banner" and "Rule Brittainia." Hundreds of visitors ignored the opening ceremonies of the regular exhibition and rushed to the grounds where Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show performed. The place was packed long before the performance was booked o commence, and the grounds in the neighborhood was the point of concentration during the entire day.
