Daniel S. Lamont was Private Secretary to Grover Cleveland, when Cleveland was the New York State Governor (1883-1885), and then when Cleveland was the 22nd President of the United States, 1885-1889.
During President Cleveland's 2nd term (as 24th President of U.S., 1893-1897), Lamont was Cleveland's Secretary of War.
