Visiting Scholars granted certain privileges on approval of Dean of Graduate Chollege
From the Dean of the Graduate College comes a request that visiting scholars from abroad be granted the privilege of utilizing the facilities of the University for conducting research during a limited period of time. The request includes the following stipulations: (1) approval must be obtained fromt the department concerned and from the Dean of the Graduate College; (2) the visiting scholar shall not be working toward an advanced degree and he shall receive no compensation from the University; (3) the visiting scholar, with the approval of the Dean of the Graduate College, may be extended the privilege of auditing classes and of consultation with the members of the faculty without the payment of fees; (4) during his period of association with the University,

the visiting scholar shall be given an appointment as research associate and, as such, shall be governed by the rules and regulations of the Board of Regents which are applicable to the members of the academic and administration staff.
It was moved by Regent Adkins, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, that the request of the Dean of the Graduate College, together with the accompanying stipulations, be approved.
Waive In Absentia fee for John W. Dirksen
From the faculty of the College of Pharmacy comes the request that John W. Dirksen be granted a Bachelor of Science degree in absentia because of religious belief and that the in absentia fee be waived.
It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Welsh, motion put to vote and carried, that the request of the faculty of the College of Pharmacy be approved.
Approve three-week leave of absence for certain Agr. Extension Service staff
From the Director of the Agricultural Extension Service comes a request that the three-week leaves of absence for study be granted to twenty-two staff members in the Agricultural Extension Service. Each leave carries with it a scholarship in the amount of $100.00 made available as follows: 15 scholarships provided by Aksarben; 4 scholarships provided by Farm Foundation and 3 scholarships by Horace A. Moses Foundation. Leaves are requested as follows:

Approve duplicate diploma to Dr. Donald W. Miller
It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Adkins, motion put to vote and carried, that a duplicate diploma be issued to Donald W. Miller, M.D., who received the Doctor of Medicine degree in June, 1938. Dr. Miller's original diploma was lost by him during his period of active duty in the Medical Corps of the U. S. Navy.
Renew Agreement with Bankers Life Insurance Company of Lincoln to support Chair of Actuarial Science
It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, that the president and corporation secretary be authorized and directed to execute in behalf of the Board of Regents a Supplemental Agreement to the Trust Agreement of July 10, 1957, between the Bankers Life Insurance Company of Lincoln, Nebraska, for itself and other donors, and the University of Nebraska Foundation, a corporation. The Supplemental Agreement extends the original Trust Agreement to 1959 under the terms and conditions set forth therein, subject to receipt of funds therefor from the donors by the University of Nebraska Foundation. This Agreement provides funds in support of the Chair of Actuarial Science at the University of Nebraska.

Resolution for sale of farm in Dawson County to PAUL D. HART Sheldon Estate
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, an Agreement for Warranty Deed was entered into on March 30, 1959, between THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA, a corporation, as Party of the First Part, and PAUL D. HART AND ARLENE E. HART, husband and wife, of Sargent Nebraska, Parties of the Second Part, by the terms of which First Party agreed to sell and Second Parties agreed to buy the Southwest Quarter (SW1/4) (also described as Lots 4 and 5) and the East Half (E1/2) of the Southwest Quarter (SW1/4) of Section Seven (7), Township Ten (10) North, Range Twenty-Four (24), West of the 6th P.M., in Dawson County, Nebraska; subject to right-of-way of Thirty Mile Canal Company for irrigation lateral; and subject to established public roads and existing easements, for a total consideration of Seventy-Eight Thousand Dollars ($78,000.00), and
WHEREAS, said agreement provided that upon payment of the balance of said purchase price, in the sum of Fifty-Nine Thousand Dollars ($59,000), First Party should convey to Paul D. Hart and Arlene E. Hart, husband and wife, as joint tenants with right of survivorship and not as tenants in common, the above described real estate;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that upon payment by Paul D. Hart to The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, the balance of said purchase price, in the sum of Fifty-nine Thousand Dollars ($59,000), C. E. Swanson, President of The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, a corporation, or J. G. Elliott, Vice President of said Board, be authorized and directed to execute and deliver to Paul D. Hart and Arlene E. Hart, husband and wife, as joint tenants with right of survivorship and not as tenants in common, a Warranty Deed of the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, a corporation, conveying the above described real estate to said Paul D. Hart and Arlene E. Hart, husband and wife, as joint tenants with right of survivorship and not as tenants in common.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that John K. Selleck, Corporation Secretary of the Board of Rgents of the University of Nebraska, or Joseph Soshnik, Assistant Corporation Secretary of said Board, be authorized and directed to attest to the execution of said deed, and to attach thereto the corporate seal of the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska; and be further authorized and directed to purchase and attach thereto necessary revenue stamps, as required by law.
It was moved by Regent Adkins, and seconded by Regent Foote, that the foregoing resolution be adopted, and the adoption of said resolution was unanimously carried.
From the Office of Education in the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, comes information that the additional sum of $48,717.00 has been approved as a second Federal Capital Contribution for
