From Dean Walter E. Militzer, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, comes a request to permit Mr. H. L. Hunzeker, Asst. Prof. in the Mathematics Department, to act as consultant to Mr. M. Holter of the Infrared Laboratory at the University of Michigan for a period of time anticipated not to exceed two years.
It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, directing permission be granted to Mr. H. L. Hunzeker to act as consultant to Mr. M. Holter of the Infrared Laboratory at the University of Michigan.
Accept gift of estate of Carl Herman Larsen
It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Swanson, motion put to vote and carried, directing that the unrestricted gift from the estate of Carl Herman Larsen in the amount of $14,140.27 be gratefully accepted.
Authorize Dr. O. D. Grace to serve on Basic Sciences Board,State Board of Health
From Dean W. V. Lambert, Dean of the College of Agriculture, comes a request to permit Dr. Oliver D. Grace, Associate Professor of Animal Pathology to serve on the Basic Sciences Board of the State Department of Health at a stipend of $10.00 per day plus expenses for two examination periods each year, examinations to be held in Omaha, Nebraska. It ws recommended by Dean Lambert that permission be granted to Dr. Grace to serve on this board.
It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, directing that permission be granted to Dr. Oliver Grace, Assoc. Prof of Animal Pathology, to serve on the Basic Sciences Examination Board of the State Board of Health.
Accept gifts to University Art Collection
It was moved by Regent Elliott, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, directing the gift to the University art collection of the following works of art be accepted:
An oil painting, THE CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIGADE, by Roy Lichtenstein, presented by Dr. Bernard Kronenberg, 737 Park Avenue, New York.
A sculpture in cast stone, MOUNTAIN FIGURE, by Louise Nevelson, presented by Miss Anita Berliawsky, Rockland, Maine.
Withhold action on resignation of Mrs. Whitesel
In the matter of the resignation of Mrs. H. Carolyn Whitesel, Extension Assistant in Home Economics and County Home Extension Agent in Kearney County, the Board granted an interview in which Mrs. Whitesel presented the circumstances surrounding her dismissal by the Kearney County Extension Board.
It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Greenberg, that the following resignations of University personnel as recommended by the Chancellor's office be accepted but that the resignation of Mrs. Whitesel be tabled for later consideration. Motion put to vote and carried.

The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska met on this day for a special meeting at 10:00 o'clock a.m. at the Drake Hotel at Alliance, Nebraska.

Minutes Approved
The minutes of the proceedings of the Board at their meeting held October 11, 1958, were approved, copy of the same having been transmitted to the several members of the Board under its order of October 1, 1926.
From the Chancellor's office come reports of resignations, leaves of absence, new appointments, adjustments in work and salary, retirement and deceased members of the staff. Money being available for those purposes from former apportionment by the Board, the following actions are taken.

Record death of persons on University payroll
From the Chancellor's office comes a report of the death of the following persons who have been on University retirement. It was moved by Regent Swanson, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, that these deaths be made a matter of record in these minutes and the University retirement payrolls adjusted accordingly.

Bids for heating system at Elgin property
From the Business Manager's office, Mr. Carl A. Donaldson, comes an itemization of bids received for the proposed heating system improvement consisting of an eight inch steam line to the Elgin property from the University power plant and the removal of sidewalk and replacement with an eight foot sidewalk on the south side of W Street, which work is involved in connection with the remodeling of the Elgin property. The following bids were received:

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Elliott, motion put to vote and carried, directing that the low bid from Ray Martin Co., Lincoln, in the amount of $51,780.00 for the installation of an 8 inch steam line to Elgin property from the University Power Plant and the removal of sidewalk and replacement with an eight foot sidewalk, be accepted.
Authorize sale of certain University farms
From the Business Manager's office comes a recommendation and request for authorization to sell three University Development Farms at public auction and to commission Forke Brothers Company of Lincoln as auctioneers. They are: Nemaha County Farm (Johnson Estate), Nance County Farm (Johnson Estate) and Dodge County Farm (Montgomery Estate). Previous instructions have been granted to place the "Hordeville Farm" (Halleck estate) located two miles east and two miles north of Hordeville, Nebraska, for sale at public auction.
Employ Forke Brothers as Auctioneers
It was moved by Regent Swanson, seconded by Regent Greenberg, motion put to vote and carried, directing that the Business Manager be authorized to sell the Nemaha County Farm, the Nance County Farm and the Dodge County Farm at public auction and to commission Forke Brothers of Lincoln, Nebraska, to act as auctioneers.
From the Business Manager, Mr. Carl A. Donaldson, comes recommendation that Loomis Hall, formerly a private residence but in recent years owned and operated by the University as a girls dormitory to serve students at the College of Agriculture, be sold.
