Melvin L. Henning, Agricultural Extension Assistant, at $4500 per year from January 27, 1958; temporary replacement for Dwain Trenkle who is on leave fror military service.

Chester C. Hawley, Jr., Agricultural Extension Assistant, at $4000 per year from February 3, 1958.

Milton W. Meyer, Assistant in Agronomy, at $433.33 per month from February 1 to August 15, 1958; to handle research work while R. A. Olson is on leave.

Museum John Alfred Howe, Coordinator of Planetarium Programs and Guide Service, part-time, at $1100 for the period February 1 to June 30, 1958; in place of Newell Joyner.

Public Relations Joan Krueger, Assistant in Public Relations, at $4500 per year from February 17, 1958; in place of Sally Adams, resigned.

Registrar Frederick L. Nicolai, Deputy Registrar, at $7000 per year from June 1, 1958.

Teachers College George Ernest Uhlig, Jr., part-time Instructor in Industrial Arts, at $900 per semester (February 3 to June 7, 1958).

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, accepting recommendation of the Chancellor's office that the following adjustments in work and salary be approved.

College of Agriculture Robert James Stalcup, reappointment as part-time Instructor in Agricultural Economics, at $106.67 per month from February 1 to June 15, 1958: to teach Ag. Economics.117 in place of Prof. Hoiberg on leave.

Lois K. Olson, part-time Instructor in Home Economics, at $200 per month for the period February 1 to June 1, 1958.

Geraldine Stamm, part-time Assistant Instructor in Home Economics, at $200 per month for the period February 1 to June 1, 1958.

College of Arts and Sciences Norman H. Cronwell, Principal Investigator, Public Health Grant CY-2931 (C1), at $1000 for the month of July, 1958; account 4756-W. Will conduct cancer research at Chester Beatty Research Institute in London during leave from the University.

College of Business Administration Emory P. Burnett, from fourth time to half time Instructor in Business Organization and management, at $200 per month from February 1 to June 30, 1958.

It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Elliott, motion put to vote and carried, directing the follow ing committee be appointed to act as an advisory committee to the University authorities concerning the planning and design of the Sheldon Memorial Art Galley:

Authorize issuance of duplicate diploma

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, directing Registrar Floyd W. Hoover be authorized to issue a duplicate diploma to Mr. Alfred Herman Reider, of Omaha, Nebraska. Mr. Reider was granted the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education on August 6, 1937.

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Swanson, motion put to vote and carried, directing the follow ing grants for research as reported by Dean John C. Weaver under date of January 22, 1958, be accepted.

Accept gifts and grants

$4,000 from the Cerophyl Laboratories though the University of NebraskaFoundation to Dr. Ernest R. Peo, Jr. of the Department of Animal Husbandry: The Effect of Thyroprotein upon the Performance of Growing Swine.

$5,000 from the American Dairy Association through the University of Nebraska Foundation to Dr. I. L. Hathaway of the Deparment of Dairy Husbandry: The Nicotinic Acid, [Fantothenic] Acid, Biotin, Pyridoxine and Vitamin E Content of the More Important Kinds of Cheese. (Continuation)

$172 from the U.S. Public Health Service to Dean J. F. Tollman of the College of Medicine: Post-Sophomore Medical Student Research Fellow ships (Supplement for tuition increase).

$11,500 from the U.S. Public Health Service to Dr. Robery K. Feeney of the Department of Biochemistry and Nutrition: Antibiological Action of Chelating Agents. (Continuation)

Accept Ford Foundation Grant

Special Meeting February 1, 1958

From Mr. Bennett S. Martin, Mayor of the City of Lincoln, comes a request for the University of Nebraska to participate in a study of interstate access and major streets in the area surrounding the Lincoln City Campus from 10th to 17th Streets north of R Street.

Authorize participation in study of interstate access streets

This study will involve anticipated traffic volume and access highways connecting the Nebraska interstate with the City of Lincoln, such interstate accesss highway being adjacent to or through the University City Campus and therefore of great importance to University future campus development.

Mayor Martin indicates that the estimated cose of this study to be made by Harland Bartholomew & Associates and George Barton will be $10,000 and requests the University participate in the cost to the extent of $2,500.

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Elliott, motion put to vote and carried, directing the University of Nebraska become a participating client with the Lincoln City Council in employing Harland Bartholomew & Associates and George Barton to conduct an immediate study of proposed interstate access highway and its relationship with the city campus of the University of Nebraska at a cost to the University not to exceed $2,500, providing, however, that in becoming a participating client payment will be made by the University directly to Harland Bartholomew & Associates and George Harton, and further that the University ofNebraska will be a participant in outlining to the planning engineers in advance of the study the interest of the University in

maintaining proper traffic control on the Lincoln City Campus.

Accept gift from O. A. Cooper, Humboldt

It was moved by Regent Foote, seconded by Regent Swanson, notion put to vote and carried, directing that the gift from the O. A. Cooper Company of Humboldt, of a poultry building to the Poultry Department at the College of Agricul ture, be accepted.

From the Business Manager, Mr. Carl A. Donaldson, comes a summary of bids received for Laboratory furniture and equipment to be installed in Lymen Hall, now nearing completion.

It was recommended by Mr. Donaldson that the low bid of Walrus Mfg. Company of Decatur, Illinois be accepted. Mr. Donaldson reported that he had personally visited this factory and determined that the Walrus Mfg. Co. is a responsible firm capable of delivering the equipment desired.

It was moved by Regent Greenberg, seconded by Regent Foote, motion put to vote and carried, directing the low bid from the Walrus Mfg. Co. of Decatur, Illinois, for furnishing laboratory furniture and equipment as required for Lyman Hall in the sum of $114,821.55, be accepted.

Resolution - Agreements for Warranty Deeds

It was moved by Regent Swanson, and seconded by Regent Foote, that the following resolution be adopted, and the adoption of said resolution was unanimously carried.

Special Meeting February 1, 1958

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, An Agreement For Warrenty Deed was entered into on November, 13, 195, between THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA, a corporation, as Party of the First Part, and ROBERT GEIGER, of Cozad, Nebraska, as Party of the Second Part, by the terms of which First Party agreed to sell, and Second Party agreed to buy the North Half (N1⁄2) of the Northwest Quarter (NW1⁄4) of Section Twenty-eight (28), Town -ship Ten (10) North, Range Twenty-four (24), West of the 6th P.M., in Dawson County, Nebraska, for a total consideration of Thirty-six Thousand Dollars ($36,000.00) and

WHEREAS, Second Party has now paid upon said total purchas price sum of Nine Thousand Dollars ($9,000.00), and

WHEREAS, said Agreement provided that upon payment of the balance of said total purchase price in the sum of Twenty seven Thousand Dollars ($27,000.00), First Party should convey to Second Party the above described real estate;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that upon payment by Robert Geiger to The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, of the balance of said purchase price, in the sum of Twenty-seven Thousand Dollars ($27,000.00), C. Y. Thompson, President of The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, a corporation, or J. LeRoy Welsh, Vice President of said Board, be authorized and directed to execute and deliver to Robert Geiger a Warranty Deed of The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, a corporation, conveying said real estate to Robert Geiger.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that John E. Selleck, Corporation Secretary of The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, or Joseph Soshnik, Assistant Secretary of said Board, be authorized and directed to attest the execution of said Deed, and to attach thereto the corporate sea of The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska; and be further authorized and directed to purchase and attach thereto necessary revenue stamps, as required by law.

It was moved by Regent Swanson, and seconded by Regent Foote, that the following resolution be adoped, and the adoption of said resolution be unanimously carried.

RESOLUTION

Sale of Farm in Frances Sheldon Trust to Robert Geiger

WHEREAS, Second Party has now paid upon said total purchase price the sume of Nineteen Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($19,750.00), and

WHEREAS, said Agreement provided that upon payment of the balance of said total purchase price in the sum of Fifty Nine Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($59,250.00), First Party should convey to Second Party the above described real estate;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that upon payment by Robert Geiger to The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, of the Balance of said purchase price, in the sum of Fifty-Nine Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($59,250.00), C. Y. Thompson, President of The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, a corporation, or J. LeRoy Welsh, Vice President of said Board, be authorized and directed to execute and deliver to Robert Geiger, a Warranty Deed of The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, a corporation, con veying said real estate to Robert Geiger.
