LINCOLN, NEBRASKA JUNE 10TH, 1884.

The board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, met in annual sessions at the office of the Chancellor, in the University building, at 2 o'clock p.m., pursuant to the provisions of the by-laws.
Present, Regents J.M. Hiatt, M.J. Hull and J.T. Mallalieu.
Absent, Regents J.W. Gannett, C.H. Gere and E. P. Holmes.
No Quorum.
There being not a quorum present at this time, the regular order of business was dispensed with.
Chancellor Directed to Confer Degrees &C.
The Chancellor stated that his annual report was not fully prepared for submission and called attention only to the matter of conferring degrees, in course and honorary in accordance with the recommendations of the faculty.
On motion, the Chancellor was instructed by the members present, to confer the proper degrees publically on commencement day, upon the present graduating class, also the honorary degree of L.L.D., upon Prof, E.B. Andrews of Brown University and the degree of the Master of Arts upon Chas.N. Little, subject to the approval of the board as soon as a quorum shall be present.
The board then adjourned until June 12th, 1884, at 9 o'clock a.m. awaiting the attendance of absent members.

In the absence of the president Hon. C.H. Gere the board was called to order by the secretary, and on motion put and carried regent J.M. Hiatt was chosen temporary president.

THE MINUTES OF THE INFORMAL MEETING OF THE MINORITY OF THE 10TH, INST. WERE ALSO READ AND APPROVED.
REGENT MALLALIEU MOVED THAT THE NAME OF REGENT BURNHAM OR SUBSTITUTED TEMPORAILY UPON THE STANDING COMMUTTEES OF THE BOARD INSTEAD OF THE NAME OF REGENT GANNETT, NOW RESIGNED, WHICH MOTION PREVAILED.

The secretary submitted and read his report of certificates drawn upon the University fund since the last regular meeting of the board: also bills fuled in his office financial reports &C., of Lieut. Townley and bills filed by Profs. Thompson and Culbertson all of which were referred to the finance committee.
A bill of Professor Thompson for hygenic models furnished, was on motion referred to the University & Library committee.
A communication from Lieut. Townley, relating to drill &C., in the military department was received and referred to the committee on course of study.
The secretary read a communication from members of the medical faculty, relating to leave of absence of Prof. Lowry, which was received and referred to the University and library committee.
A communication relating to the appointment of Dr. A.S. Von Mansfelde to a professorship in the medical college was received and referred to the committee on Course of Study.
Regent Mallalieu called the attention of the board to certain improvements needed at the college farm, in the way of cleaning up the farm and improvements about the buildings, whereupon the chairman referred this matter to the University & Library Committee, to report.
Chancelors Report.
The Chancellor, I.J. Manatt, read from his annual report, informally, calling the attention of the board to the following matters, viz:
Degrees Conferred.
1st. The recommendations of the faculty of candidates for degrees, as follows:
For the degree of Bachelor of Arts, Geo. W. Botsfond, Alexander A. Monroe, Robert L. Marsh.
For the degree of Bachelor of Science, Anna D. Aldrich, Flora E. Frost, Jesse H. Holmes Herbert W. Olmstead.
For the degree of Bachelor of Literature, William H. Lichty, Clara Parks, William P. Sullivan.
For the degree of Bachelor civil engineering, Ellis O. Lewis, Edward J. Robinson, Alvin L. White. (Resolution of faculty not furnished)
Honorary degrees.
For the honorary Degrees of doctor of laws Prof. E. Ben Andrews, of Brown University.

For the Honorary Degree of Master of Arts Charles N. Little, of the University of Nebraska.
Regent Hull moved that the action of the minority of the board on June 10th, 1884, directing the conferring of the degrees as above named, and the action of the chancellor in the premises as ratified and confirmed and that the degrees be declared duly conferred upon the class of '84, as also the Honorary Degrees above mentioned, which motion prevailed.
2nd. Calling attention to the vacancies in certain chairs, and the filling of the same. Passed to executive session.
Chancellor Report Continued Medical College
3rd. Recommending in relation to the medical college in substance as follows: (A) That the terms of admission, amount of work and length of course in different sections of the school, or uniform. (B) No student to be credited with study in other colleges until credited with study in other colleges until credentials be passed upon by the faculty and accepted by the chancellor. (C) The demonstrator to furnish all material for use of that department and personally to attend to instruction. (D) That the course of study be three years. (E) Certain conditions for graduation, to take effect Sept. 1st, 1885. All referred to the commitee on course of study.

On motion the board then took a recess until 1.30 o'clock p.m.
