Com. on C. of S. in Relation to Rept. of Dean Bessey.
The committee on course of study reported as following:
The committee on course of study to whom was referred the report of Professor Chas. E. Bessey Dean of Industrial College, submits the following: That we heartily approve of the general plan of work as set forth in the report, and recommend that the suggestions therein specified be carried out as rapidly as our deans and facilities will permit.

On motion the report of the committee was received and adopted.
Telephone for Chancellor Res.
Regent Holmes moved that the secretary be authorized to procure a telephone instrument to be placed in th chancellors residence: which motion prevailed.
Resignation of Miss Smith Accepted
Regent Burnman moved that the resignation of Miss Ellen Smith as Principal of the Latin School, presented to the board at the June meeting 1884, be accepted, as taking effect of that date: which motion also prevailed.
Leave of Absence to Chancellor &c.
Regent Burnman moved as follows:
That Chancellor Manatt be granted leave of absence to visit medical colleges, at any time between this date and the March 1885 meeting of this board.
At the suggestion of other members and by common consent, was added the following:
That Regent Burnham be requested to accompany the chancellor upon this buisness and that they be reimbursed their expenses.
The motion as modified prevailed and it was so ordered.
Professors to be Paid Travelling Expenses.
Regent Mallalieu moved that the travelling expenses of Professors, to different parts of the state, visiting high schools &c., on behalf of the university , be paid.
The motion prevailed and it is so ordered.
$40.00 for Prof. Hick's Dep't.
The finance committee reporting upon the recommendation of Prof. Hicks for and appropriation of $40.00 to furnish materials &c. for the work in minekalogy, sumitted the following:
The finance committee concur in the within recommenation.
