The finance committee reported as follows:
The finance committee have examined the bills of Elems and Amend for chemicals, amounting to $145.83, and recommend that the same be paid out of April [dr?]

On motion the report of the committee was received and adopted.

$48.00 to A. D. Gregg for Case.

The same committee also reported that they had examined and approved the bill of A. D. Gregg, amounting to $48.oo for case for Prof. Bessey's room, and recommend payment for the same, which report was also received and adopted.

A. H. Edgren Elect Prof.Mod.Lang. $2,000. Salary

A final report from Prof. [dr?] in relation to the college farm, with vouchers was received and ordered filed and referred to the finance committee.
Regent Burnhamn moved, that Dr. August H. Edgren of the University of Lund, Sweden be elected to the chair of modern languages in this university, at a salary of $2,000.00 per annum, services and salary to begin april 1st. 1885.
Which motion unanimoudly prevailed.

School Land Matter Ref'g to Ex. Com. with Power

A report was received from the librarian G. E. Howard, accompanied with vouchers, which was received and ordered referred to the finance committee.
Regent Mallalieu moved, that the matter of the sale and leasing of school lands, referred to by the chancellor, be referred to the executive committee, with power to take such steps to remedy the existing evils, as may be deemed necessary by it. Which motion prevailed and it is so ordered.

Relating to C. E. Bennett, Act.Prin.Lat. School &c.

Regent Burnham moved, that the chancellor be authorized to appoint C. E. Bennett as acting principal of the latin school, if found desirable, for the beat team, with the same salary as he at present receives.
Which motion prevailed.

$10 to Secretary for Money Paid &c.

Regent Mallalieu offered the following:
Resolved: that J. Stuart Dales be [dr?] the sum of ten dollars, the same being amount paid out for cablegrams & telegraphing.
Which motion also prevailed and it is so ordered.
