Lincoln, Neb'r. August 22nd, 1884
The board of regents met at 8 o'clock p.m. pursuant to adjournment, with the same members present as at the afternoon session.
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved.

John Green Elected Janitor &c.

The secretary presented additional applictions filled for the janitorship, and the president of the board presented the application of Mr. John Green for the same place.

$900.

Regent Holmes moved that the application of Mr. John Green be accepted and that he be elected janitor at a salary of $900 per annum, to take charge of and do all work connected with the building and grounds, to take effect Sept. 1st. 1884 which motion prevailed.

$9.50 to Sewell

Regent Holmes of the finance committee reported recommending the payment of the bill of Thos. Sewell for the sun of $9.50 and that the secretary be directed to issue certificate accordingly, which recommendation was adopted on motion.

$25. for Geo'l Department

Regent Holmes moved that the sum of $25 or so much thereof as may be necessary be appopriated for the purchase of supplies for the geological department as recommended in the communication of Prof. Hicks, and that the secretary issue the neessary certificate therefor, which motion prevailed.

Seating of Medical Students

Regent Mallalieu moved that the medical students be entitled to seats at lectures in the order of their matriculation by the registar, which motion also prevailed.

$50. for Advertis'g

Regent Burnham moved that the sum of $50 be appropriated for advertising the university, to be expended under the direction of the chancellor, and the secretary to issue certificates therefor, which motion prevailed.

Buckners Degree Recommitted to Chancellor.

Regent Mallalieu moved that the matter of issuing diploma to Elijah Buckner be recommitted to the chancellor for further investigaton and that he be requested to procure the disputed credential, ascertain the names of signers, their whereabouts, and comunicate with them if possible, and report the results of further investigation to the board, which motion was adopted.
