The chancellor called attention to the necessity of an appropriation of $125.00 for the library, for services of assistance shelving &c., which was referred to the finance committee.
The matter of appropriations for the following purposes was also referred to the finance committee, viz: payment of necessary expenses of prest. Gere to Iowa, fitting up room for [calesthenics], and fitting up room for teacher of fine arts.
$150.00 for outbuildings (temp.)
Regent Burnham moved that $150.00 or so much thereof as may be necessary be appropriated for the building of out-buildings and that the secretary and chancellor be authorized to cause temporary out-buildings to be constructed, which motion prevailed.
$15. for room for calesthenics by chancellor $15 for art room
Regent Burnham moved that the sum of $15. be appropriate to put in repair a room for teacher of fine arts, if necessary, to be expended under the directions of the chancellor.
$13.47 to pay exp. [chr.?] ex. com. Gere. to Iowa.
Regent Holmes of the fiance committee moved that the sum of $13.47 be appropriated to pay expenses of chairman of executive committee in visiting prof. Bessey in Iowa per account rendered, which motion prevailed.
$125.00 for library
Regent Holmes of the finance committee also moved that the sum of $125.00 be appropriated for the library, $90. of the same for assistance for the ensuing six months and the remainder for shelving and bureau as recommended by chancellor, and the secretary authorized to issue certificates accordingly, which motion also prevailed.
$500. for farm (contingent.)
Regent Burnham moved that $500 be appropriated out of any funds available, to be expended under the direction of the chancellor, in payment of expenses of the farm. Which motion prevailed.
On motion the board then took a recess until 8p.m.s.t.
