Secretary
As teller, resulted as follows:
J. S. Dales received four votesa and having received the unanimous vote of all the members present and majority of the whole board, was accordingly declared duly elected secretary of the board for the ensuing team of two years, at a salary of $500 per annum.
Secretarys Report Salary &c.
The finance committee reported that they had examined the report of the secretary with vouchers and found same correct: and also the following:
Seal to Be Recast.
Your committee to whom was referred secretary Dales' report, recommend that we be instructe to have seal of the university recast.
Areas Graded.
Also that we be instructed to have dirt hauled to fill up around the university insufficient qntity to protect the wall.
Type-writer.
We further recommed, that in lieu og n increse of salary, that the secretary of the oard be instructed and authorized to purchase a type writer for his use, nt to excee $100.00 in cost.
On motion the report of the committee as bove was received and adopted and the secretary authorized to issue certificates for the respective amount accordingly.
Chair of Surgery Passed.
Regent Mallalieu moved that the matter of the appointment to fill the chair of surgery, be laid over until the next meeting of the board. Which motion prevailed.
On motion the board then took recess until 2 o'clock p.m.

The board of regents met at 2. p.m. with the same members present as at the morning session, pursuant to the order of their last adjournment.
The minutes of the last preceeding session were read and approved.
Prof. Blount Declines
The chancellor stated that pursuant to instructions of the board, he an the president pro.tem. had telegraphed Prof. Blount and that he had just received reply unfavorable at present to his acceptnce of a professorhip.
