Dear Sir. I have been very busy adding several weeks of assisting in special meetings to my regular work, so have not been able to do what I wished and intended with our Oaks. Yesterday, had a chance to search the ground for acorns of what you thought from the green specimens I sent was Q. prinoides. Shall be very glad if they are of any use. In haste, C.W.Preston.

Dear Sir, Last spring I promised to send you a specimen of a diminutive Oak growing in our County (Richardson). It is not ripe fruit yet, but I have a good chance to secure specimens and will send two Oak trees. I find larger specimens than I had seen before, easily two feet high. Will send other specimens when the Acorns are mature if you desire, and will be obliged if you will give me the name of the forest Monarch. Very truly, C.W.Preston.

Dear Sir:
We are in receipt of your favor of Nov. 9th and would say we can furnish the Metric Weights together with the extra iron weights which will be perfectly accurate, with the balance, for the price referred to in our former letter. As it would take about ten days after the receipt of your official order to furnish the balance we have given instructions to go on with it at once that we may not keep you waiting longer than necessary.
Yours truly, James W. Queen & Co., By [signature]
