The enclosed circular explains the financial status of the Naturalist for 1892. It is now necessary to adopt further measures for securing a guarantee of $800.00 additional to the amount now raised in order to enable us to commence the volume for 1892. One measure is that which enables the American Geol. to exist, and that is, an assessment of the editors. We have eight, and if each will guarantee $25. for 1892, two hundred dollars will be added to the one hundred now in hand, leaving six hundred to be raised This I hope to do in several ways. raise part of it by subscription, and I propose to ask for aid from the Society of American Naturalists I enclose circular and subscription paper. The money will not be called for before April '92, and will not be called for at all unless a sufficient guarantee is obtained. An early answer is very necessary! Yours very truly
