Dear Professor Bessey:
I send you today proof of my bulletin! Although not corrected, it answers to show you what it is like. It is expected to make about 24 pages. The printers will furnish it at $10.00 per 1000, being only a dollar above actual cost for paper and printing so they say. We will begin printing next Tuesday and will be pleased to know your decision as early as possilbe. Do not forget to state what changes you desire in the paging etc, if any. I hope you will find it suitable for distribution in Nebraska.
Yours truly, J. C. Arthur

DIRECTOR'S OFFICE
LAFAYETTE, IND. Oct. 15 1889
My dear Prof. Bessey,
Your arrangements for publishing my article on wheat smut are entirely satisfactory. Indeed I am really flattered that it is to have so fine a setting. I would like to have you send me 50 copies of Article VII that is my article with your introduction to it. I think it is sufficiently complete without the addition of any statement as to its source. Send me the bill for the extra expense.
I suppose we must say "Tilletia foetens [B & C trel]" The Torrey folks have quite a [bit at me] in the Oct. Bulletin.
Hope to meet you next week at Madison.
Yours Truly J. C. Arthur
