Davenport, Iowa Dec 21st /88 Prof C. E. Bessey I have selected for you, and sent by Express parcel containing 100, + Sp of my recent collection. of plants - I have endeavored not to duplicate those previously sent, by looking over the list, except in some cases where they are better rrepresented, or corrected. I think you will be pleased with the set of Ceanothus which I have given special attention to including some unpublished sp. which I hope to work up this winter--you will also find some interesting additions to Arctostaphylos and [Chiriganthe]. I will see that you are supplied with any published matter I may have printed, or in case you want any special information of particular species shall be glad to inform you by letter. I find a big job on my hands to pub what I have in proper order for reference or distribution and am still hoping before I get too old to see my whole collection & books go to some public institution. There is now a probability that they will be taken by the Stanford University in Cala - My charge will be $8.2 - I send by Express as allowing greater bulk of packing Yours truly C. C. Parry

Knoxville, Sept. 28 1888.

Dr. C. E. Bessey, Lincoln, Neb. My Dear Sir_ --- I sent you some time since, a request that you should furnish me biographical information for a biographical directory of agricultural scientists. No one at your station has answered this circular. I wish to call your attention to the wisdom of answering this circular, on the part of yourself and assistants, so that Nebraska may be properly represented in its pages. The returns are already so full that there will be but little [nine] delay before putting the manuscript in the printer's hands. Already almost 200 of our experiment station workers have sent in short biographical notes of themselves. Some station directors have [ ] complete data of their station staff. I should be

Rose cottage Feb. 22d 1888

Dear sir

I am very sorry to have you make wait so long and still have a unsatisfactory answer for the last two years I have done nothing in the way of collecting. I would, I think, found a few of your danderites in my collection, but the work to look for them, is even more than I can do right now. there is one collector, in Texas now that I think may supply your want, is prof. C. J. Neilly (of Beaumont, I think) the Dpt of Agriculture, would have his address. Most respectfully yours, J. [Preverikan]
