Lemmon Herbarium Medical College building Oakland, Cal. Feb. 6. 1888.
Professor Bessey.
Dear Sir.
At last I have finished up your grasses and send them off in a paper box by this mail.
I'm sorry that the list is so short but I did not venture to send doubtful forms. When I shall have a winter to myself undisturbed and have supplied myself with materials and literature necessary. I hope to study and know something of our grasses.

No doubt some errors will be found in even this finall list, but you will excuse after these explanations.
In the main I hope you will be pleased.
Of many of the new ones I have but a single specimen left with not one to spare.
Now I must turn to the study of our trees again.
We have agreed with the state board of forestry to make an elaborate report of the pines for this year, with colored illustrations.
As to pay for these few grasses let it be as you please, say 10 cents for the good specimens.
With warmest regards from Mrs. L. & myself. Yours J. G. Lemmon.

Dear Prof.
We are trying to secure funds for a "Bulletin" to be issued before Commencement from the Natural History side of our University --all that I have, likely to be of interest, will appear in that and it's successors, if our project succeed. If our plan fail you will hear from me in March. I remember with great pleasure your kindness to me at Ames. Thanking you for your invitation I remain Yours most Truly
