Dear Professor Bessey.
Many thanks for your
kind and sympathetic letter of the (Biological Department)
28th. [ult?] Our losses^ are chiefly
in the way of microscopes and
specimens which were temporarily
in the large building for a
conversagine - also of course the
whole of library - the Biological
part of which had not been
moved over to this Building
and which must have been
worht $10,000 alone - again
the Museum lost a great deal
in the course of being saved-
You might be of assistance in
getting any publications within
your state- I mean survey or
learned loc: publications - sent
