My Dear DrBessey:
The Philadelphia Press of Nov6 has a picture that may please you as it has me. And yet it is not a pure pleasure for with it is a streak of doubt and to clear up the doubt am going to send the clips and ask you what the inventive editor has in his roomy mind. Is it Amaranthis spinosus or what? You need not trouble yourself to answer this in any hurry -Any time this year will do -
Perhaps you can send something to the ThePress. If A. spinosus I would not care to be the boy to be disguised by one of the plants pulled down on my heard. May be it is panicum capilare Guess again? Sorry not to [sepect] to see you in Washington. Bessey Burrell and Beal all away! We can not have a busy time without the B's.
Yours in sorrow Byron D Halsted
