Long Pine, Neb., 188 .

here the 8th of Aug. I wish you were
here when the sand cherries are ripe.
I believe it can be made very valuable
by cultivation. A gentleman near
here hsa some growing about four
feet high, the usual height being
1 1/2 ft. I believe everything grows within
ten miles of here than grows anywhere
within 300 miles. I curious find
has been made in a nighboring creek,
it appears to be a partially petrified bone
and is a semi-circle, about seven ft.
long and seven inches in diameter to
within ten inches of the end when it
decreases to a point. The prominent
farmer I spoke of says he knows where
to find every variety that grows in the
state and that he will gladly take you
around several days.

In Haste,
Yours, C. M. Stevans.
