San Francisco Free Public Library.

Apr. 25 1886

Prof. C. E. Bessey:

Sir: This is to ask you, if you should at any
time put forth any scientific pamphlet
or reprinted article, to send a copy of it
to me for the State Library, or to that
Library direct (at 107 Battery St.)

Mr. Sutro is now filling the scientific
departments of this intended great Public
Libaray (already numbering some 50,000
volumes), which will be unrivalled on
this coast for the literary part of scientific
research; and he has asked me to assist
him in the necessary correspondence.

I trust that the well known importance of
publications of the class referred to, and the
pecuiar difficulty of obtaining them, will
be a sufficient apology for this application.

Very Respectfully
Yours Obt Servant
J. B. Perkins.
