Dear Sir:

I have just received from the
makers, R & J Beck, a microscope, which
with its accessories, cost $216.50. I have
No 1 3 & 5 eyepieces and a 2 [?], 2/3 [?]
and 1/8 [?] (the latter oil immersion) object[?]s.

I would like your judgement of the
instruments and its working power. I
write you, therefore, for the purpose of
ascertaining, whether or not your time
would allow the giving of an hour to
me for such purpose.

I could come to Lincoln most
any time from 11:30 a.m. to 3:40 p. m.
the limit of time between the trains
coming and going.

Of course, if absolutely necessary
I could come and stay over night,

but this would necessitate the sacrifice
of a great deal of time, which is
rather valuable to the busy practitioner.
The time between 1–3 would be good –
as long as I have a chance to come
from the depot and get back to it,
I have no particular [choice?].

A line from you will oblige
me very much

Very truly yours.
